We think
An outstanding Tawny that has more awards piled onto it each year. It’s mellow sweetness is underpinned by a lively acidity which makes it hard to believe that this wine has been aged for so many years. An absolute delight.
Experts say
Silver at Decanter WWA 2015 – “complex high-toned bouquet of marmalade, tar, leather and dried fruits. Rich and mellifluous on the palate with candied peel, orange marmalade and bitter peel extract. Impressive with a lovely full, yet fresh finish.”
Silver at IWSC 2015
Bronze at IWC 2015 “Silky caramel with baked toffee. Dried figs with hazelnut, ginger spice. Crystallised finish with a long silky crisp finish.”
95 Points with Wine Enthusiast – “Remarkably, this is able to show age and long cask aging, but the flavor is still here: figs and honey, balanced out with burnt caramel aged acidity and a rich (but not sweet) finish. Excellent, top quality aged tawny.” Roger Voss
95 Points from Jamie Goode – “Good concentration of sweet fruit with hints of whisky, tar, raisins and figs, as well as spice. Very smooth and complex.”
“…the savoury walnut timbre of aged wines shuddering through its timbers, but melt in the mouth salt caramel, nougat and maple syrup to flesh it out and extend its honeyed dried fig finish. Very fine, long and lingering.” Sarah Ahmed
