We think
This is a wine that beautifully exhibits the qualities of the Portuguese grape variety Alfrocheiro. The colour is a deep burgundy and the aromas reveal a full-bodied fruitiness and a wonderful spicy quality to the wine. On taste the wine is elegant and warming with a velvety smooth taste, delicate notes of white pepper come through. We love this wine!
Experts say
Praise for the 2007 vintage
Gold at the CWSA Best Value awards 2015.
Bronze at the IWC 2014 – “Firm but ripe-fruited. Black, juicy fruit with slightly dry tannins.”
Commended at Decanter Awards 2015 – “A very complex nose of herby, ripe fruit. The palate is juicy with a quality finish.”
92 Points with Wine Enthusiast – “The rich, fruity core of this 100% Alfrocheiro wine is given polish and weight from time spend in a barrel. The fruit at the heart is dense, showing hints of dark chocolate and spice flavors, supported by structured tannins.” Roger Voss
90 Points at Ultimate Wine Challenge 2014 – “Ruby/crimson color. Heavenly minty and leafy aromas impress in the first whiffs, then nuances of coconut, black grape juice, blackberry emerge. Big in the mouth, dry, herbal, highly tannic.”
