Chryseia is a truly world class wine and has the awards to prove it. The wine is a product of an ongoing partnership between producers in Bordeaux and the Douro and the results are amazing. An absolute delight.
Experts say
Silver at Decanter Awards 2015 – “An incredibly complex and elegant nose sporting floral, earthy, spice, tobacco, herb, cocoa and dark chocolate characters. A very impressive and concentrated wine with polished tannins and a lovely savoury texture that will evolve further with time.”
Silver at IWSC 2015
95 Points at Decanter Magazine – “Lovely, ripe dark berries with black pepper, bacon, violets and powerful tannins. Quite savoury and forceful in style with a rustic, complex finish.”
95 Points at Wine Enthusiast – “This smooth, structured wine has many of the characteristics of Bordeaux with its new wood and elegant texture. Acidity, black fruits and tannins are developing well.”
92 Points at Wine Spectator – “Pure and fresh-tasting, with good cut to the dark plum, blackberry pie and hot stone flavors, full of mincemeat and mineral notes. The luscious finish oozes chocolate mousse and raspberry ganache accents.”
91 Points at Robert Parker – ” It is not the biggest, deepest or most powerful Chryseia, but it is one of the most charming.”

This is the best wine I have drunk this year (certainly in the top 2 with the Crasto Touriga Nacional), and certainly up there with one of the best I’ve ever had. Had it with a rib of beef and with friends. They were delighted!
Lovely berry notes, a beautiful mouth feel. Wonderfully balanced and a marvelous finish. A heartbreakingly good wine that left me marveling at the skill of the winemaker.
It’s not cheap but you pay for quality and this is worth every penny. Treat yourself, or treat a wine lover you know. This will improve for keeping a few years as well (I was lucky enough to try a 2007 vintage of this at a tasting and it was spectacular) but I’ve ordered another of the 2012 already and I don’t see it lasting the month.
